Cooper Flagg

PICTURE: DUKE commit and projected top overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft COOPER FLAGG of MAINE UNITED. Flagg’s ALL-GymRat performances began at the 2019 GymRat CHALLENGE in the 6th Grade where he scored 24 of his team’s 28 points in a 12U Division Championship Game defeat at the hands of the NY GAUCHOS…and immediately made us all wonder WHAT was happening in the State of Maine. After COVID prevented us from seeing his 7th & 8th Grade development, Cooper & Co. mounted a GymRat Championship return in 2022 and he captured MVP honors with the full spotlight of the basketball nation already on him. In 2023, after Maine United took an opening round loss to PHILLY PRIDE that knocked them out of championship contention of GymRat LIVE on Day 1, Flagg came back with a vengeance on Day 2 putting on a legendary performance attacking rims like he was determined to take one home as a parting gift. Cooper played the lead role in one of the most unique stories in grassroots basketball lore as he and his Maine mates played their way to back to back EYBL Championship Games appearances at 15U & 16U. GymRat Executive Director, John Kmack says of Flagg “He’s the most intuitive player that we’ve seen in the 26 year history of GymRat. You combine that with extreme athleticism and you have the #1 high school player on the planet. It’s cliche to say that great players see things a step ahead of everyone else, but in Cooper Flagg’s case, it’s just the reality. Watch the leap timing and trajectory on his snatch blocks that start the break and you’ll see what we mean. Defensively, he can guard 1-4. Offensively, he attacks the rim like it owes him money. His mid-range game is extremely impressive , especially off the dribble. The release on his extended range jumper is mechanically pure and there’s NO DOUBT he will continue to develop in all phases not only because of his physical tools but also his proven work ethic and willingness to challenge himself constantly…and he’s still only16. Cooper Flagg is the REAL DEAL at the highest possible levels.”
